There are a variety of boot loaders for Linux. Funtoo makes several available. Configuring these boot loaders can be a challenge, and Funtoo provides a unified tool that will generate appropriate configurations from one central configuration tool. That tool is Funtoo Boot-Update.

In addition to a unifying configuration tool, Funtoo also makes newer versions of grub available with all the improvements that comes with that.

Funtoo also replaces the shell scripting startup scripts of Gentoo with a snappier C-based Funtoo OpenRC.
