IP Space Migration Continues

All Funtoo user containers in the 8.28 IP space will be moving into our new IP space (172.97) over the next few days. If you have DNS set up -- be sure to watch your container and update to the new IP! container.host.funtoo.org DNS will be updated after the move.

Lanmap is a utility to generate visual representations of what happens on your network. Lanmap passively listens to traffic to generate an image.

# emerge lanmap

As lanmap requires access to hardware it must be run as root.

To generate a lanmap that is easily served via Package:Nginx, Package:Apache or any other major webserver.

# lanmap -i eth0 -T png -o /var/www/localhost/htdocs/

# lanmap -i wlan0 -T png -o /var/www/localhost/htdocs/

The resulting image will be located at http://localhost/lanmap.png & /var/www/localhost/htdocs/lanmap.png

the official documentation suggests using -o /tmp/ to output to /tmp/lanmap.png

as of 06:50, 25 May 2014 (UTC) there are no init scripts or /etc/conf.d configurations to define interfaces & start up.
