The '''intel64-ivybridge''' subarch specifically supports processors based on Intel's [[Wikipedia:Ivy_Bridge_(microarchitecture)|Ivy Bridge microarchitecture]] with AVX instructions. Desktop processors are branded as 3th Generation Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7. Many of the released processors (desktop and mobile variants) are APUs, containing integrated Intel graphics support, and include the Core i7-4800 and 4900 Series Processors. Ivy Bridge Xeon processors include the Xeon E5 v2, E7 v2 and Pentium 1400 Series v2 Families.
Intel AVX instructions require operating system support and have been in the Linux kernel since 2.6.30. Additionally, they require slightly more power to execute. When executing these instructions, the processor may run at less than the marked frequency to maintain thermal design power (TDP) limits.
This subarch does not support non-AVX Ivy Bridge processors, such as the Pentium G and Celeron G series. For these CPUs, use the [[Corei7|Corei7 subarch]].
