History using Computers
My dad had an Atari 520ST which I used to play Bongo. You could actually feel the weight of the ball unlike with so called force-feedback devices.
When he got a 486 with Windows 3.11 I liked that it had colors and that you could make the window borders thicker. At that time I was still amazed how a friend knew how to cd and stuff. I played Transport Tycoon,C&C and Warcraft a lot.
Once I got sick of Windows I moved on to OS X and mostly stopped playing games. This was when OS X still came with a OS9 compatibility mode. Unfortunately my dad still uses Windows and sometimes can't access the Interwebs. This once led my to destroy a keyboard - otherwise I am quite peaceful.
History using Linux
When I started programming (which wasn't until my twenties) I switched to SUSE which I immediately hated so much that I moved on to Gentoo within two weeks or so (thanks Tilo). Had to buy another network card though because I wasn't so good at configuring a kernel yet.
