{{fancywarning|These instructions assume that your /etc/portage/package.{unmask,use} locations are directories.}}
==init==
to start xdm immediately:
<console>###i## rc-service xdm start</console>

First, sync the tree if you haven't recently as you need access to a file in the tree:
to start xdm upon boot:

<console>###i## rc-update add xdm</console>
<console>
{{EbuildFooter}}
###i## emerge --sync
</console>

Now, create a symlink to the GNOME 3.14 mask file, reversijng it in the process:

<console>
###i## cd /etc/portage/package.unmask
###i## ln -s /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask/funtoo-gnome .
</console>

Then to simplify matters, enable the gnome mix-in:

<console>
###i## eselect profile list
##g##Currently available mix-ins profiles:
  [11]  funtoo/1.0/linux-gnu/mix-ins/audio
  [12]  funtoo/1.0/linux-gnu/mix-ins/console-extras

<pre>
gnome-extra/evolution-data-server gtk
