This page lists CPU-optimized builds of Funtoo Linux for Amd64-k8 64-bit AMD Processors.
The amd64-k8 subarch provides support for the AMD "Sledgehammer" Family 0Fh processors which were the first AMD64 chips released by AMD in 2003. This subarch is forwards-compatible with all AMD 64-bit processors.

The "Sledgehammer" CPUs were successors to the popular Athlon XP processors and were the first processors that featured AMD's AMD64 (also known as 'x86-64') 64-bit instruction set and architecture. Desktop amd64-8 CPUs include Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Athlon X2 Athlon 64 FX, Sempron, original Opteron and Turion 64 and 64 X2.
